Prof. Simon Gregson is Director of the Manicaland Centre, and a professor of demography and behavioural science at Imperial College London. Simon works on the dynamics of spread, impact and control of HIV and combines large-scale, longitudinal, population-based and clinical surveys with use of mathematical models. Timothy HallettProf. Timothy Hallett is a professor of global health at Imperial College London, an Associate Director of the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis and a lead investigator at the Jameel Institute. Constance NyamukapaDr. Constance Nyamukapa is Research Operations Director of the Manicaland Centre. Constance has led the field operations for the Manicaland Centre successfully since 1998 and is a leading Zimbabwean researcher on HIV in adolescent girls and young women. Owen MugurungiDr. Owen Mugurungi is Director of the HIV/TB Department in at the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care. Owen has been a co-investigator at the Manicaland Centre since the late 1990s and provides a direct link between our work and HIV policy in Zimbabwe. His publications can be accessed here.

Morten SkovdalProf. Morten Skovdal is professor at the University of Copenhagen. He has a background in social and community health psychology, which he applies to global health challenges. Ranjeeta ThomasDr. Ranjeeta Thomas is an assistant professor in health economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science and an honorary lecturer at Imperial College London. Her research interests are in health economics relating to developing countries with a particular interest in quasi-experimental methods to evaluate large scale health programs; and evaluating through randomised controlled experiments, behavioural economics interventions to improve uptake and adherence to efficacious HIV prevention methods. Louisa Moorhouse
Dr. Louisa Moorhouse is a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London, supporting the Manicaland Centre. She completed an MSc Epidemiology at the LSHTM and has a background in the biological sciences. Louisa is passionate about working with young people, and has previously worked in the development sector for a charity that supports children and young people who are deaf. Sophie Bagnay
Sophie Bagnay is a research assistant at Imperial College London, working with Prof. Simon Gregson and the Manicaland Project. She has a background in (clinical) Medicine and Health and Life Sciences. She holds an MSc in International Public Health and was a junior lecturer in Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her current work is focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on HIV prevention, 'Circumstantial Determinants', and the influence of masculine social norms on sexual risk behaviour and the use of HIV prevention methods. Katherine Davis
Katherine Davis is a PhD student supervised by Dr Katharina Hauck, Professor Simon Gregson, and Dr Michael Pickles whose work focuses on the links between HIV, mental health, and quality of life in sub-Saharan Africa. Using data from the Manicaland Project, she is examining associations between depression, HIV transmission and HIV care outcomes. These results will inform mathematical modelling of the impact of a problem-solving therapy for depression on the HIV epidemic in Manicaland. View her full list of publications here.

Rufurwokuda MasweraMr Rufurwokuda Maswera is Fieldwork Manager. He has just completed an MSc in Demography and Population Studies. He has a background in Social Work and has worked as an HIV counsellor at PSI Zimbabwe and also worked on child welfare issues within the Zimbabwe Government’s Department of Social Welfare. Phyllis MandizvidzaMrs Phyllis Mandizvidza is Clinical Coordinator at Manicaland Centre for Public Health Research. She holds a BSc(Hons) in Nursing Science and a MSc in Healthcare Management. In addition, she has a diploma in Systemic Family Counselling and an executive certificate in Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation. Phyllis facilitated the rollout and implementation of PrEP to seven health facilities in the Mutasa district and Nyanga Hospital. She has worked on different surveys, including the Social Mixing, Covid-HIV risk, HIV Prevention Cascade studies, and the HIV/STD Prevalence, Cash Transfer, and Monitoring and Evaluation survey. Louis ChisvoMr Louis Chisvo is Fieldwork Supervisor at BRTI and has a background in supervising Research Assistants collecting data using both printed and electronic questionnaires as well as collecting clinical specimens.
